Immortal Combat: Veterans Day on the Web
By Gian Trotta

Several Veterans Sites deserve salutes this week. From Green Bay To The Gulf details a crusade against Iraqis before redeployment to Bosnia; Grant Szabo tracks hazards for Gulf vets, including sarin exposure. Vietnam vets Ulf Heller and Philip Coleman post powerful memoirs; Ed Close and Eric Lee show still-stuggling vets, and a war widow created a subliminal memorial. Fading World War II memories endure at Dad's War and 54 Years Ago; top reminisces: A WAC Looks Back and a P-47 pilot's stunning journals. Duty and love do grim battle in a doomed Civil War veteran's last letter.

Cultural Treasures of the Internet
A humanities dean from Pennsylvania's Widener U culled the best electronic sites for info on art, music, philosophy etc. and put them into an old media format-a reference book. Check here for snippets from A-XZ, plus instructions on how to order entire volume.
Nate Cook's Home Page
The freshman at St. Paul, Minnesota's Macalester College is one of the founding members of Q Software, creators of Infotron, the popular Mac shareware game. Not surprisingly, Nate's a National Merit Scholar. Venture capitalists might want to keep an eye on him.
Wheeze
It's heartwarming when a troubled young man with a sick and twisted sense of humor such as Joel Risberg can find an outlet for his creativity. A writer for Point Communications, HotWired and his own 'zine Wheeze, Joel has also created a parody of Gap ads and takes a look at Marc Andreesen's foot grooming habits. This one's a winner.
